I had a very good experience here. I avoided going for quite some time but now I wish I had just gotten it over with a long time ago. I can't speak for everyone but I loved the techs on 2N. They went above and beyond to not only meet each patients needs but continuously strove to make us feel comfortable and safe no matter where we came from or what struggles we faced as individuals. Any concerns or inquiries were heard and responded to immediately.. I met so many beautiful people that helped me come out from behind the wall of my diagnoses and readily welcomed me with open arms and without judgement. I got to be part of a wonderful group of women, each enduring a hell of their own kind, yet we all shared a common goal to overcome, get well, and continue to grow as individuals. (ok three common goals) For me, once I started making the choice every day to care about myself like I would a loved one, sharing my experience and caring for others became second nature.

I stayed at Valley Hospital recently. People need to realize this isn’t the hotel Marriott! You are there to detox and get help for psychiatric care. As a Veteran I must say the Freedom Care Unit was amazing. The respect was nice and almost all of the staff there were very respectful. Only problem I had was a staff member there named Darrin I believe, was wearing a Black Panther Party t-shirt and strutting around like he was so proud of a racist organization. No staff should wear any propaganda/racist shirts to a work place especially one with people who need help. Dr. Segal was a very good doctor. I’m out and struggling with Post Acute Withdrawal Syndrome, but I will follow up with the VA. If you are a Veteran, Police, or EMS you won’t be disappointed if you need a place to go for help. Oh one last thing Valley Hospital please get your patients outside sometimes... especially us with depression. No sunlight isn’t a good thing.

My experience here was through the Women's Program. Which, was offered to me as an Outpatient, was wonderful! I learned a great deal about how to help myself in a healthy manner. To be able to have strength in times of weakness, by first being able to recognize my weakness and choosing a better way to handle it than I had been doing in the past; in order to break the unhealthy cycle which was keeping me in dysfunctional behavior patterns. Tina, was the Group Therapist, she comes highly recommended. She made me feel safe and accepted in the Group.
